VC ORB TROUBLESHOOTING
HAVING ISSUES? FIND THE SOLUTION HERE!
QUICK-START COMPATIBILITY CHECKLIST:
  • Check that your GPU is supported (GPU List)
  • Update your graphics driver (NVidia / AMD)
  • Make sure you are running After Effects CS6 or later
  • Operating system supported? (Minimum: Windows 7 SP1 / Mac OS X 10.8.5)
  • Does your AMD processor support SSE4.1 or later? Find out here.
When you apply Orb to a Solid layer:
"After effects error: plug-in 'VCOrb.aex' could not be loaded (126) ( 48 :: 46 )”

“After Effects error: invalid filter ( 25 :: 3 )”
  • If you are using an Nvidia graphics card, please do a clean installation of the latest Nvidia driver. Click here to look up your Nvidia driver.

    The WIN 10 update sometimes corrupts Nvidia driver files for some odd reason. Even if you have the latest drivers installed already, a fresh driver install will overwrite the corrupted files.
“VC Orb failed to initialize with error: no valid openCL/OpenGL interop device”
  • Update to the latest version of Orb. Latest versions: Mac / Windows
  • If the error occurs after updating Orb, check to make sure your CPU is supported. If you’re using an AMD CPU, here is a list of unsupported CPU series from AMD that do not support SSE4.1.
Texture Map Makes Orb Disappear:
“When I add the diffuse Earth texture map to the Orb effect the orb disappears entirely!”
Troubleshooting Steps:
  1. Check compatibility of your graphics card (GPU) and your CPU to make sure the plug-in is supported with your machine. GPU list. CPU notes.
  2. If your machine is compatible, update to the latest graphics driver (For Nvidia / AMD)
Orb Crashing When Using Full Resolution
This indicates that your GPU is unable to handle the large textures. Try downsampling them to to 2K (2048x2048) or even 1K (1024x1024).
SLI Support?
Dual-GPU SLI is not supported. You may need to disable SLI in order to run Orb.
Mac Users: Nothing happens when I click the installer
Right click on the installer file and then go to “Show Package Contents”. In the Resources folder you'll see the VCOrb.plug. Drop that into the AE Plug-ins folder.
After Effects Freezes When I Apply Orb to a Solid Layer
Troubleshooting Steps:
  1. Check compatibility of your graphics card (GPU) and your CPU to make sure the plug-in is supported with your machine. GPU list. CPU notes.
  2. If your machine is compatible, update to the latest graphics driver (For Nvidia / AMD)
  3. Make sure the more powerful GPU is set as the primary for After Effects. Sometimes the Intel or onboard graphics may cause a conflict.
  4. If you are running more than one monitor, try plugging in only a single monitor into the port on the back of the graphics card.
  5. If those steps do not work, it may be necessary to try a fresh installation of Adobe After Effects. If that does not help, the nuclear option of reinstalling Windows OS may be the last hope! We know it’s a pain, and we apologize in advance :)
